From the time that she took office in April 2012, Assemblymember Didi Barrett hit the ground running on issues important to this region, including
- Economic Development and Job Creation
- In the Assembly this session, Didi helped create small business tax credits worth up to $70,000 per year and reform measures to eliminate bureaucratic red tape for small family owned businesses.
- On the Veterans Affairs committee, Didi helped introduce and pass legislation to increase jobs and benefits for returning veterans who too often get overlooked once they come home.
- Didi supports helping agriculture, food related services and cultural tourism become greater economic engines in the Hudson Valley
- Didi is determined to make the Hudson Valley and New York State more business friendly and will work with regional economic leaders to develop sensible legislation that will grow our local economy, support small businesses and create more jobs.

- Voted against all tax increase measures that came to the floor in the Assembly and will continue to do so.
- Co-sponsored the “Unfunded Mandate Reform Act” which authorizes Governor Cuomo to work with the legislature to create an unfunded mandate reform plan.
- Refused to accept tax payer funded per diems and reimbursements for travel, which many elected officials take on top of their salary.
- Worked with local municipalities and town supervisors to bring the resources of Albany directly to our communities.

- Helped create legislation to make “cyber-bullying” illegal.
- Has worked to protect families from domestic violence through legislation to identify and prevent further instances of abuse.
- Sponsored and passed legislation that reinstates the consumer advocate’s position on the New York State Energy Planning Board.
- Protected families from harassment by out of state telemarketing companies by insisting they operate under New York State “Do Not Call registry” laws.
